Keep your legal records. Truckies Rest Log is a companion to your paper National Work Diary. It is not an NHVR-approved Electronic Work Diary. You must still fill in your National Work Diary (or use an approved electronic system) and keep your legal records.
Getting started
How do I set the app up?
When you first open the app, choose your work scheme (Standard Hours solo is free), your base state or territory and your time zone. You can change these later in Settings.
How do I start work or rest?
On the Now screen, tap the big button to start work or start rest. If you forgot to tap at the right moment, use Adjust time or Log break manually; times snap to 15-minute blocks.
I already have hours from the last two weeks. How do I add them?
Use the 14-day catch-up to enter your recent work and rest, so the 7-day and 14-day totals are right from the start.
How do I edit or delete an entry?
Open the day on the timeline, tap the entry, then change the times or delete it. Edits are time-stamped, so you can see what changed.
Alerts
I’m not getting break alerts.
Check that notifications for Truckies Rest Log are turned on in your iPhone’s Settings > Notifications, and that Time Sensitive notifications are allowed. Focus modes can also hold back alerts. In the app, check Settings > Alerts > Break warnings.
Will alerts work without phone reception?
Yes. Alerts are scheduled on your iPhone and don’t need signal.
Purchases
What does the Lifetime unlock include?
BFM and two-up rules, unlimited history with 14-day catch-up, PDF and CSV export and multiple trucks, for a one-off A$14.99. There’s no subscription. Standard Hours stays free.
How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?
In the app, go to Settings and tap Restore purchase, signed in with the Apple ID you used to buy it.
How do I get a refund?
App Store purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Records and export
How do I export my records?
Go to Settings > Records > Export and choose PDF or CSV. The file is created on your iPhone, and you choose where to send or save it.
If I delete the app, can you recover my records?
No. Your records are stored only on your iPhone, so we can’t see or recover them. Export a copy before deleting the app or changing phones. Your iPhone’s own backup (iCloud or computer) may also include them, depending on your settings.
Rules
Which rules does the app follow?
The Heavy Vehicle National Law work and rest rules used in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, TAS and the ACT: Standard Hours (free), and BFM and two-up (Lifetime). WA and NT are coming later. AFM isn’t supported.
The app says I’m in breach, but I don’t think I am.
The app works from the times you enter and gives guidance only. Check the entries on your timeline, then check your National Work Diary and the official NHVR guidance. If you think the app has it wrong, email us the details and we’ll look into it.
